Pearl Jewellery
Pearls come in a variety of colours,
shapes and sizes. When buying look for the deep inner glow
and shimmering iridescence known as orient. The deeper the
lustre and iridescence, the more valuable the pearl.
At Birkbecks we stock a wide range of strands and jewellery
including pendants and earrings, featuring a number of different
types of pearls.
Australian South Sea Pearls are grown in the clear blue waters
off the northern and western Australian coast and come in
a variety of colours including white, silver, gold and rose.
Tahitian Black Pearls are sourced from the warm Pacific waters
off the coast of French Polynesia.
Akoya Pearls are cultured pearls grown off the coast of Japan.
They are white and lustrous, often with pink or cream overtones.
Our range includes selected designs from the world-renowned
Japanese company Mikimoto.
Chinese Freshwater Pearls have a milky translucent appearance
and come in a range of pastel colours.
